RockRiver Powersports is a premier Yamaha dealership in Wisconsin. In 2017, an opportunity to utilize a new gTLD was presented to RockRiver and we began working with them to migrate their long established .COM site to the new gTLD, .MOTORCYCLES.
When long-established websites switch domains there is a high likelihood that their rankings and website traffic decrease initially, especially from Organic search. That is known risk that can easily be mitigated with some planning and expertise, which then greatly increases the opportunities for success in branding and revenue for any business.
The Challenge
An eCommerce site that had existed for 18+ years was looking to migrate from their .COM to .MOTORCYCLE and needed assistance in properly migrating their site and creating/executing an SEO strategy for the first time.
The Solution
Conducted an SEO audit that was used to create a migration plan that would fix all existing SEO issues, while also performing the migration properly. In addition, time was taken for determining what keywords were most important and optimizing the site fully at launch.
The Impact
Within the first 3 months post-launch the site was able to:
- Increase overall traffic to site by:
- 78% increase in users
- 87% increase in new users
- 45% increase in Contact Submissions (which was their overall goal)
- Increase Organic traffic by:
- 75% increase in users
- 88% increase in new users
- 57% increase in Contact Submissions (which was their overall goal)
